Backpacking From Maine to Everywhere Else in the USA by Train
I plan to travel on a low budget and with minimal luggage; I plan to backpack across the USA by train and connect with the train by bus as a senior citizen (over 65).

I have fulfilled my bucket list by traveling to other countries to see the same things I could see here in the United States. There are 15 states that I have not visited, and I want to visit them before I am unable to do so. Here is a map of the states that I have not visited.
First Trip 1: Bangor to New York City
From Bangor to Brunswick by bus
Bangor has no train services; therefore, I would need to travel by bus. The nearest train station is approximately 110 miles away. It is a 2 hour and 31 minutes ride. I am taking the shortest and most scenic route to the train station in Brunswick. The bus will travel through the following cities: Searsport, Belfast, Lincolnville, Camden/Rockport, Rockland, Waldoboro, Damariscotta, Wiscasset, Bath, and Brunswick. I will show more after I have taken this trip.
The bus leaves Union Street in Bangor at 7:00 AM and arrives in Brunswick at 10:25 AM. The train leaves Brunswick station at 11:00 AM. As you can see, I have very little time to switch from bus to train.

Switch from bus to train @ 11:00 AM

From Brunswick by Downeaster train to Boston North Station

It is a 5 hour and 20 minutes ride. The most scenic route passes through these towns on the Downeaster train from Brunswick.

The train leaves Brunswick at 11:00 AM and arrives in Boston North Station at 2:20 PM. The train leaves the South station at 4:15 PM. As you can see, I have plenty of time to get from the North Station to the South station where I will catch the Acela train to New York.
